Job #1
Isaiah 53 is one of the great passages of prophecy regarding the Messiah. I've quoted here the last half of the last verse of the chapter, "he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." I want to draw your attention to the very last phrase. One of the main aspects of Jesus' ministry and mission was and is to make intercession for the transgressors.
If you were given a gospel pop quiz today and you were asked to list the essential elements of Jesus' work, would your list look like this?
-
Lived a perfect life
- Validated His diety through miracles
- Gave up that life on the cross to pay for our sins
- Rose again to conquer death on our behalf once and for all
If your list failed to mention Him praying for the lost, it would be an incomplete list. We often don't think of our sacrificial Savior as the passionate Pray-er. He was and is. As His followers, we too must be. The tendency in each of us to leave that element off of Jesus' list, is the same tendency which leads many of us to leave it out of our lives.
Make no mistake, if Jesus' work of salvation is going to flow through us into our community and world it will happen as we follow His example of interceding for the lost. My calling is to be a part of leading a revolution of souls and society. Job #1 for we men, if we are serious about seeing God turn our country around is to pray for the transgressors, as Jesus did.
Our #1 Initiative is the Warrior Walk. Our simple goal is to pray over every soul within a five mile radius of JFBC, by walking every street and praying for every person and family behind every door we pass. Our leadership team for this initiative is in place. Our command center is being built. Instructions to help you/us engage in this endeavor will continue to come. If you've got a fire team in place and you know what to do, let's get it started!
Jesus "made intercession for the transgressors". Isaiah 53:12
I really enjoy the emails from jfmen. I was wondering, when will those who volunteered to be assigned to a team be notified? I suspect you all have a lot of names to go through and organize.
