Living Water

Jesus said, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." . . . "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." John 4:10, 13, 14

As a way to prime the pump of our hearts as we prepare to go this year on mission trips to Atlanta Inner-City, Matamoros, Mexico and Montego Bay, Jamaica, we took the opportunity to give up sodas, coffees and any other specialty drinks during the month leading up to our final Man Church of the Spring.  The idea is simple:

  • for this set period of time we "sacrifice" a little to provide others a lot
  • we take the money we normally would have used to buy the latte or soda, and instead we give it to project H2O
  • we wear the bracelets to remind us to sacrifice and to serve as a potential conversation-starter with others
  • on April 1st, we bring the "drink sacrifice" offering to Man Church

If our total offering ends up being $4,000 we can buy a village a well.  Regardless of our total, we will be significantly contributing to a needy village of people, bringing them clean, healthy physical water which they desperately need, and eternal spiritual water, Jesus, whom they more desperately need.

You may read more about project H2O at the following link.

If you haven't started participating in this opportunity and would like to, you may swing by the Men's Ministry office and pick up your bracelet.  There are some in the box on the wall outside our office door.

I was surprised that more people have not asked me about the bracelet. However, it has provided opportunities to share the gospel!

It makes me wonder about other ways to encourage total strangers to start conversations with me that I can point to Christ.
